Visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev to the Swiss Confederation
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, paid a visit to the Swiss Confederation on January 19, 2026, to participate in the World Economic Forum held in Davos. Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with officials of a number of countries, as well as heads of global companies and international organizations.
Meetings were held with officials of the following countries and heads of international organizations.
• Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus;
• Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Masrour Barzani;
• President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb;
• President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Reno-Basso;
• Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani;
• Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babis;
• President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog;
• European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos;
• President of the United States of America Donald Trump.
Meetings were also held with a number of global companies:
• Andre Esteves, Chairman of BTG Pactual;
• Morten Dirholm, Group Senior Vice President for Marketing, Communications, Sustainability, and Public Affairs at Vestas Wind Systems;
• Sultan Ahmed bin Sulaim, Chairman and CEO of DP World;
• Jacob Aarup-Andersen, CEO of Carlsberg Group;
• Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan;
• Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock and Adebayo Ogunlesi, Founding Partner and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a company within the BlackRock group.
• Connor Teskey, President of Brookfield Asset Management;
• Adrian McDonald, President of Dell Technologies for Europe, Middle East and Africa;
• Russell Hardy, Chief Executive Officer of Vitol.
As a result of the above-mentioned meetings, it should be noted that several agreements were signed by the relevant state bodies aiming to accumulate significant economic benefits to our country.
Also, within the framework of the visit, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, gave an interview to the Euronews television channel, participated in a panel meeting on the topic of “Defining the Economic Identity of Eurasia” and “Breakfast with the Leadership of Azerbaijan”, as well as a panel meeting with the participation of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. Also, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, participated in the signing ceremony of the “Board of Peace Charter” document and signed the “Board of Peace Charter"
