An event "Path of Liberty" dedicated to November 8 - Victory Day and the 140th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli was held in Bern
On November 12, 2025, a concert event dedicated to Victory Day and the 140th anniversary of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli was held in Bern with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein, as well as the organization of the Caspian-Alpine Society operating in Switzerland. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Fuad Isgandarov greeted the participants of the event, noted that the 5th anniversary of the Victory was a turning point in the Caucasus, and emphasized that this is the main path leading to peace. Ambassador F. Isgandarov also noted that the creativity of the great composer has a special place in the Azerbaijani culture of the 20th century.
Then, the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, Fuad Muradov, congratulated the participants of the event for the Victory Day. At the same time, Chairman F.Muradov touched upon the creativity of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, noting that the great composer opened a new page in Azerbaijani culture.
The event also featured a presentation of the monograph “Modernity and Archaic: 20th Century Azerbaijani Musical Culture in the Context of Three Empires” by composer, musicologist and culturologist Elmir Mirzayev, who lives in Germany. The book has been translated into German, which covers about the 200-year period of Azerbaijan’s history and culture that went through difficult stages, .
Then, examples of the great composer’s creativity were performed. The cultural part included Uzeyir Hajibeyli's works "Ashiqsayagy", "Arazbari", "Sensiz" and "Sevgili canan", Elmir Mirzayev's work "Ithaf" dedicated to the Khojaly genocide, performances by soprano Mara Huseynova, who works in Germany, members of the "Berner Klaviertrio" music group - violinist Roman Filipov, cellist Pierre Deppe and pianist Igor Andreev, and compositions by the dean of Karabakh University, composer Turker Gasimzade.
The event was attended by officials of the Swiss Confederation, diplomatic representatives accredited in Switzerland, members of the Azerbaijani diaspora living in Bern and other persons.
At the end of the event, a reception was organized for the participants.
