Azerbaijan-Lichtenstein
On 21 January 1992, diplomatic relations between Republic of Azerbaijan and Principality of Lichtenstein were established.
On 13 April 2006, Mr. Elchin Amirbayov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Swiss Confederation was accredited to Lichtenstein as well.
On 01-04 November 2007, Mr. Hugo Quaderer, Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Forest of Lichtenstein paid a visit to Azerbaijan within the implementation of the Project of “Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions of the Caucasus – Local 21” in North and South Caucasus.
In 2009, restoration of two schools’ buildings in Shamakhi region (Sis village) of the Republic of Azerbaijan was supported by the Development Assistance Foundation of Lichtenstein (LDS).
On 12 May 2010, Mr. Murad Najafbayli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Swiss Confederation was accredited to Lichtenstein as well.
On 4 October 2010, Mr. Khalaf Khalafov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan met Mrs. Aurelia Frick, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Principality of Liechtenstein during his working visit to Liechtenstein.
On 2 July 2012, Mr. Akram Zeynalli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Swiss Confederation was appointed as Ambassador to Liechtenstein as well.
On 3 September 2012, Ambassador Akram Zeynalli participated at the Liechtenstein Trade Fair and met Mrs. Aurelia Frick, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Liechtenstein at the sidelines of this event.
On 27 September 2012, Ambassador Akram Zeynalli met Qebhard Neqele, Head of Liechtenstein Parliamentary Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and member of PACE Bureau.
On 4 June 2013, Mr. Ogtay Asadov, the Chariman of Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan sent a congratulatory letter to Mr. Albert Frick on his election as the President of the Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein.
On 27 January 2014, Mr. Ogtay Asadov, the Chariman of Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan sent an invitation letter to Mr.Albert Frick, the President of the Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein and invited him for an official visit to Azerbaijan.
On 11 May 2015, while attending the reception on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of Liechtenstein’s accession to the European Economic Area in Vaduz, Ambassador Akram Zeynalli met with the President of the Parliament of Liechtenstein Mr. Albert Frick.
The President of the Parliament of Liechtenstein Mr. Albert Frick made an official visit to Baku from 26 to 30 June 2015. There he met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Mr. Ogtay Asadov and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Elmar Mammadyarov. Mr. Albert Frick also attended the closing ceremony of the First European Games held in Baku on 12-28 June 2015.
On 27 November 2015, during his working visit to the Principality of Liechtenstein, Ambassador Akram Zeynalli met with Mr. Albert Frick, President of the Parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein. The interlocutors underlined the untapped potential for strengthening of political, economic and other cooperation between the countries and pledged to work together to realise it. They also had an exchange of views on a number of global and regional issues of mutual interest.
On 11 October 2016, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov paid an official visit to Liechtenstein. He met with President of the Landtag of Liechtenstein Albert Frick, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Justice and Economy Thomas Zwiefelhofer, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture Aurelia Frick. Among the issues discussed at the meetings were Azerbaijan-Liechtenstein bilateral political, economic and humanitarian cooperation, conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and other regional and global issues. Ministers Mammadyarov and Frick exchanged notes on facilitation of visas for the citizens of Azerbaijan traveling to Liechtenstein.
On 21st February 2018, Ambassador Hanum Ibrahimova presented her credentials to Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein.
