Launching of the book on multiculturalism in Azerbaijan and Switzerland
On 1 December 2015, presentation of the book “The Shared Values of Multiculturalism and Secularism in Azerbaijan and Switzerland” was organised in Geneva by the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces in cooperation with the Council on the State Support to NGOs under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku International Multiculturalism Centre.
Speakers who took floor at the presentation talked about the history of multiculturalism, cultural diversity and secularism in Azerbaijan and Switzerland, religious tolerance which exist in Azerbaijan for centuries, as well as the peaceful co-existence of and mutual respect among people with different religious, language and cultural backgrounds in these two countries. The emphasized that the two unique ways of development of these countries into such societies could be used in many other countries as best practices.
This presentation was the final one in the series of events organised by the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces in the framework of a project funded by the Council on the State Support to NGOs under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Bern.
