Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov met with Deputy Prime Minister of Liechtenstein, Minister for Home Affairs, Justice and Economic Affairs Thomas Zwiefelhofer

On October 11, 2016 in the framework of his official visit to the Principality of Liechtenstein Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met with Deputy Prime Minister of Liechtenstein, Minister for Home Affairs, Justice and Economic Affairs Thomas Zwiefelhofer.

Thomas Zwiefelhofer described the official visit of Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to Liechtenstein as a significant event in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein. He stressed that his country is interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan in various areas.

Minister Elmar Mammadyarov informed Thomas Zwiefelhofer about the recent developments in the process of settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and briefed him on the position of Azerbaijan.

Talking about economic issues, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov underlined huge potential for fostering bilateral interactions in this area. He provided extensive information on major infrastructure and transportation projects like East-West and South-North corridors being implemented in the region on the initiative and active involvement of Azerbaijan. The Minister invited Liechtenstein, as one of the most industrialised countries in Europe to encourage its companies to be active and to invest in the aforementioned projects.

The two Ministers further discussed the possibility of signing agreements on avoidance of double taxation and mutual protection of investments as important tools in promoting bilateral trade and investments.

They also exchanged views on promoting contacts between business people of both countries.

Thomas Zwiefelhofer suggested establishing contacts between trade chambers of the two countries with a further view of organising reciprocate visits of business people. Referring to the activity of Hilti AG in Azerbaijan he expressed his satisfaction with the business environment in the country.

The counterparts further exchanged views on TAP and TANAP projects and other areas of potential cooperation.
