Ambassador Hanum Ibrahimova met with François Davenne, the Secretary General of OTIF

On February 13, 2018 Ambassador Hanum Ibrahimova met with François Davenne, Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF).

Cooperation opportunities between Azerbaijan and OTIF were discussed during the meeting.

Ambassador Ibrahimova informed her interlocutor extensively about Azerbaijan’s role on transport corridor between Europe and Asia and implementation of large-scale railway projects, such as Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. Ambassador Ibrahimova said that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will make a major contribution to the development of transcontinental cargo transport between Asia and Europe.

Secretary General François Davenne gave brief information about the workshop held in Baku in May 2016 on "Passengers, goods and dangerous goods: ways to implement COTIF and its annexes" and he expressed his satisfaction on cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The Secretary General also mentioned that the participation of the Azerbaijani delegation in the 13th General Assembly of OTIF, to be held in Bern from 25 to 26 September 2018, will be highly valued and they would be happy to have Azerbaijani experts in OTIF training programs orginised for the Member States.
