Ambassador Hanum Ibrahimova met with Mr. Filippo Lombardi, Chairman of the Swiss-Azerbaijani Parliamentary Friendship Group

On February 14, 2018, Ambassador Hanum Ibrahimova met with Mr. Filippo Lombardi, Member of the Council of States (Swiss Senate), President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Council and Chairman of the Swiss-Azerbaijani Parliamentary Friendship Group.  

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current level and prospects of cooperation between Switzerland and Azerbaijan in variety of areas, including at the parliamentary level. Ambassador Ibrahimova briefed her interlocutor about political ties and ongoing economic projects between the two countries. Mr. Lombardi noted the activities of SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) in Switzerland with appreciation.

The sides also discussed representation of the Swiss Parliament at the first international Silk Road Support Group Conference to be held in Baku on March 13-14, 2018. This event is a joint project of the Silk Road Support Group of the OSCE PA, established on the initiative of Azerbaijan, and Parliament of Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Ibrahimova and Mr. Lombardi also highlighted the importance of high-level visits, including at the level of parliamentarians, for strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
