Ambassador Khanim Ibrahimova met with Ms. Simonetta Sommaruga, Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police

On February 15, 2018, Ambassador Ibrahimova took part at the working luncheon of Woman Ambassadors accredited to Bern with Ms. Simonetta Sommaruga, Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police of Switzerland. During the meeting, Ms. Sommaruga briefed Ambassadors about the protection of women rights and migration policy in Switzerland.

During conversation with Ms. Sommaruga, Ambassador Ibrahimova, in the context of the migration issues, informed her that about 1 million Azerbaijani civilians turned out to refugees and IDPs as a result of the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan. Ambassador added that while women were deprived of voting rights in the USA and most of the European countries, Azerbaijan Democratic Republic granted voting rights to women in 1919.
